This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you use the TreasureHop mobile application and website. By using TreasureHop you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

TreasureHop is operated by Allison Burrows trading as TreasureHop (Queensland, Australia). We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

When you register and use TreasureHop we collect:

• Full name and display name
• Email address
• Profile photo (optional)
• Password (stored securely, we never see your plain text password)
• Listing details including title, description, photos and categories
• Sale address (used for the address reveal feature)
• Sale dates and times
• Public Q&A questions and answers (if you use this feature)
• "I'm Coming" attendance commitments

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you use TreasureHop we automatically collect:

• Device information including device type, operating system and app version
• Log data including IP address, access times and pages viewed
• Location data, with your permission, to show nearby garage sales on the map
• Push notification tokens, to send you relevant alerts about sales near you
• Usage data including which features you use and how you interact with the app

1.3 Information from third parties

TreasureHop uses the following third-party services which may collect information:

• Firebase (Google), authentication, database, push notifications and analytics
• Google Maps and Google Places API, for address verification and map display
• Cloudinary, for photo storage and delivery
• Expo, for app build and update delivery

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their collection and use of data.

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your TreasureHop account
• Display garage sale listings on the map for nearby buyers
• Operate the address reveal feature, keeping your address private until your chosen reveal time
• Send push notifications about sales near you, address reveals and listing activity
• Enable the Q&A feature between buyers and sellers
• Process and display seller ratings and reviews
• Improve the app through usage analytics
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in these circumstances:

• With other users, your display name, listing details and sale address (after reveal time) are visible to other TreasureHop users
• With service providers, Firebase, Google, Cloudinary and Expo as described above
• If required by law, to comply with a legal obligation, court order or government request
• To protect rights, to protect the safety, rights or property of TreasureHop, our users or the public

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Firebase, which is hosted on Google Cloud servers. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of push notifications (via your device settings)
• Withdraw consent to location access (via your device settings)

8. Location Data

TreasureHop requests access to your device location to show garage sales near you on the map. Location access is optional, you can use the app without granting location permission, though some features will be limited. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings.

9. Push Notifications

We use push notifications to alert you when addresses drop, when new sales list in your saved suburbs, and for other activity relevant to your account. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

10. Children's Privacy

TreasureHop is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information.

11. Third Party Links

The app may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in the app. Your continued use of TreasureHop after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
